WAG Advanced Coach
Tayla came to Niddrie at 12 years of age as a Level 6 gymnast from Melton Gymnastics Club. During her time at Niddrie, Tayla worked hard to progress through the levels, and by 2010, she made it to Level 10.
Tayla was selected in the Level 7, 8, 9 and 10 Victorian State teams, and was crowned the National Level 7, 9 and 10 champion on Vault.
Tayla loved training at Niddrie and it became her second home, where she was able to learn the skills required to help her move forward and succeed in life post-gymnastics. This inspired Tayla to become a coach to mentor and develop young gymnasts to achieve their own gymnastics goals.
Aerial Skiing
Following Tayla’s gymnastic career, she was talent identified and asked to train with the Australian Winter Olympic Development Program for Aerial Skiing. Tayla spent almost 4 years in this program where she was able to look up to former Niddrie Gymnast, Lydia Lassila, and worked hard to follow in her footsteps.
Australian Rules Football
Tayla finished in the Aerial Skiing Program and moved onto the next chapter of her sporting life – Australian Rules Football.
Tayla has progressed her way through the ranks, playing over 100 Senior games between VFLW and VWFL. In 2018, Tayla was selected for the inaugural Western Bulldogs VFLW team and was awarded the Most Improved Player. In 2019, Tayla came second in the league for the most tackles (122) and was awarded the Players MVP for the Western Bulldogs. In 2022, Tayla is now playing for Williamstown Football Club in the VFLW.
Physical and mental strength, resilience, work ethic and determination are attributes that Tayla took from her time in gymnastics that have helped her transition and succeed in other sports.
